Welcome Baby

Welcome Baby to our world
how brave of you to come.
We are here to welcome you
as your journeys just begun.
Here's our opportunity
to help each other grow.
To experience all the things,
alone... we would not know.
You have been successful,
from your very start.
Just welcoming you, has made us all
release love from our hearts.
So remember little Baby
as you grow into your dreams.
Everything in this world
is not always what it seems.
Welcome others into your world
and it is there, that you will find.
All the love you ever knew
was never left behind.

Daddy's Little Angel

© Jason A. Hodges

When you were born you filled my heart with pride,
And I was overcome by the joy I felt inside.
As I held you in my arms that very first day,
I knew I would never let any harm come your way.
With your tiny little hands and tiny little feet,
Everytime I look at you my heart skips a beat.
As I watch you sleep in the middle of the night,
I hope and pray I will do everything right.
I know I may make some mistakes along the way,
But I promise to do my best not to every single day.
I often wonder what you will grow up to be,
But whatever you become will be fine with me.
So whatever you may decide to do in your life,
Maybe an astronaut, a lawyer, or even a doctor's wife.
I can say this without any doubt at all,
I will always be there to catch you if you fall.
And another promise I make to you from me,
Daddy's little angel you will always be.

New Baby Memories & Moments

The arrival of a new baby is exciting and magical. From the cutting of the cord, their sweet little hands, the hello from a big brother or sister, to the first time meeting of grandparents, we want to enjoy it all. Those early hours and days can be busy. We often look back and wish we had taken a photo or documented something especially important to us.

Before your little one arrives take a moment to create a list of must capture memories. Look below for some ideas to get you started then talk to friends and family about some of the things they wish they had done in those early hours and days after the arrival of their little one. When you have your list created, tuck it into your hospital bag so you don't forget a thing!

Journal

An inexpensive journal offers an amazing opportunity to say hello to your new baby soon after they are born. How you are feeling, your husband's first impression, what they look like, the details of their hands, feet, hair are all worth noting. If you haven't already started a journal for your baby, share the excitement of the journey to their "birth" day and your hopes and dreams. Someday in the future you can read this welcome letter to your growing girl or boy.

Photos

It may seem silly to make a master photo list but you will be glad that you did. Instead of the standard photos try to be creative. The baby arriving, your husband cutting the cord, your first meeting (not posed!), the baby's hand with your husband's hand. The first reaction of a sibling to the baby - good or bad! A close up kiss from Grandparents or a special friend. The doctor, nurse or midwife. Don't forget to take pictures of the baby. The little feet, fingers, eyes - they grow so fast.

The Obvious Keepers

While we often think of these things as obvious keepsakes, they can be easily overlooked. Be sure to include the following on your list: The days newspaper, your baby's hospital bracelet, name card on hospital bed, special gift cards, the paper measuring tape used when they first measured your new baby.
